December meeting

We had our last meeting of this year very close to Christmas. 8 parents came along and they supported each other on how to ‘survive’ the Festive Season. ‘ A Bereaved Parent’s Christmas’ by Rebecca Carney ( posted 24December 2012 – One Woman’s Perspective) was read and she expressed the feelings of so many of the parents. She wrote how she could not get any enthusiasm about Christmas let alone shopping, she left shops empty handed as tears were rolling down her cheeks. The memories of what ‘used to be’ are ever present. Decision on should one put the child’s decoration and stocking out or not – either way is very painful. Parents could very much relate to what Rebecca said we spent time reflecting on her comments in the light of the parents’ own experience.

We shared mince pies and lovely chocolate and parents took home a wooden star with the following wording:

At night when I look into the sky and see a twinkling star, that sparkles brighter than the rest I know that’s where you are.

Wishing you all the very best for 2018. Our next meeting is on
Thursday 18th January at 7.30

The Peartree Centre, 1 Chadds Lane, Peartree Bridge, MK16 3EB

Any bereaved parent is very welcome.
