We had 14 parents at our last meeting. Liz opened the meeting with a reading by Julia Samuel – Lessons in Love & Loss

In her article she explains how building ‘pillars of strength’ will help bereaved people to keep going ,live with and learning from losing a loved one.

This was followed by a lively discussion about how to cope with losing a child especially when newly bereaved.  Some parents need medication, some take to eating unhealthy food and some may take to have extra drinks to get to sleep. It was felt that each parent must find their own way of surviving the loss of their child and if it means to be on medication for a while so it be. There is no wrong or right way of grieving at any stage after the loss of a child.

Parents felt that coming to the group has been very positive as it gives them a chance to talk about their child and can express their true feelings with no discrimination but total acceptance.

Our next meeting will be Thursday 20th April at 7.30 at AGE UK, Peartree Bridge, MK6 3EB
